Creating Digital Tools for the Public

Digital tools can make information accessible, surface hidden patterns, and support community decision-making, but only when designed with real people in mind. This workshop explores how to create web-based tools that genuinely serve communities. We’ll explore how to understand audience needs and examine how these insights should shape the design process. In this workshop we will also look at accessible tools that be put directly into action.

This workshop will be held January 29th at 6PM on zoom. Click the button below to register.

Pitching your research to reporters

Have you ever wondered how to reach out to a reporter about your work or how to interact with a journalist once you do? In this seminar, Texas Tribune Climate Reporter Emily Foxhall will demystify this process of working with the media, especially when it comes to stories related to the environment and energy. Participants will have a chance to develop their own pitches around their areas of study or expertise. This is an in-person event, on October 21st at 6:30PM at Rice University.
